5 Garage Plans

For the home handyman, who is not afraid to undertake major projects, building a garage can add a great deal of sweat equity to a home. You can construct the garage from kit form or from a building materials list included with most of these garage plans.

Note: Most garage plans do not take into consideration building an attached garage to a current home. If the garage is going to be attached to another structure such as a house, you must consider the roof line, soffit vents and gutter placement on the house before you commence construction.

If the garage is free standing, you should consider how you will provide electrical power to the garage. This link provides information on pouring a concrete pad for the garage.

The construction of a garage will, in almost all jurisdictions, require a building permit.

Always read the garage plans carefully and make sure that there is enough information provided for you to be able to complete the project - before you invest in materials. Some of the plans are excellent, giving a great deal of instruction in text, pictures and drawings while other plans are only drawings and still others are only sketches.

These garage plans require intermediate to expert handyman skills.
